Asterra Inc. ("we") sets out this privacy policy ("this Policy") for the personal information we receive through our website ("the Site") and through enquiries, and handles it appropriately in compliance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan and other applicable laws.

2. Definition of personal information
In this Policy, "personal information" means information about a living individual as defined in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan.

We collect the following personal information by lawful and fair means.
- When you contact us through the enquiry form or by email: your company name, your name, email address, telephone number and the content of your enquiry
- In the course of business dealings: the name, organisation and contact details of the person in charge
- Access logs recorded automatically on the server when you browse the Site, such as IP address, browser type and time of access (recorded by our hosting provider's systems to prevent unauthorised access and keep the Site running reliably)
4. Purposes of use
We use personal information only to the extent needed for the following purposes.
- To respond to enquiries and contact you about them
- To consider, carry out and perform business transactions (manufacturing, purchasing, sales partnerships and the like)
- To operate the Site safely, and to prevent and investigate unauthorised access or abuse
- To comply with laws and regulations
Any other use requires your prior consent.
5. Provision to third parties
We do not provide personal information to third parties without your prior consent, except in the following cases.
- Where required by law
- Where necessary to protect a person's life, body or property and it is difficult to obtain your consent
- Where it is necessary to cooperate with a national or local government body, or a party entrusted by one, in carrying out duties prescribed by law, and obtaining your consent would be likely to impede those duties
We do not currently share personal information jointly with other companies.
6. Outsourcing
We may entrust the handling of personal information to outside providers to the extent needed for the purposes above. Our main providers are currently:
- Website hosting (Vercel Inc., United States)
- Sending enquiry emails (Resend, Inc., United States)
- Email and business software (Google LLC, United States)
We choose providers that handle personal information appropriately and supervise them as necessary.
7. Security measures
We take the following measures to prevent the leakage, loss or damage of personal information.
- Basic policy: we have set out this Policy for the proper handling of personal information.
- Rules for handling: we have defined how personal information is handled when collected, used, stored, provided, deleted and disposed of.
- Organisational measures: we have appointed a person responsible for personal information and review how it is handled.
- Human measures: we inform everyone who handles personal information of the proper way to do so.
- Physical measures: we take steps to prevent theft or loss of devices that handle personal information.
- Technical measures: we limit access rights to those who need them and use encrypted connections (SSL/TLS) and multi-factor authentication.
- Understanding the external environment: as personal information may be stored on servers in the United States, we take security measures in light of the personal information protection system there.
8. Requests for disclosure and other actions
If you or your agent ask us to notify the purpose of use of, disclose, correct, add to, delete, suspend the use of, or erase retained personal data, to stop providing it to third parties, or to disclose records of such provision, we will confirm your identity and respond without delay in accordance with the law.

9. Cookies
The Site uses a cookie to remember your display language (Japanese or English). This cookie contains no information that identifies you.
The Site does not currently use cookies for analytics or advertising. If we introduce them, we will revise this Policy and let you know.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. The Site will still work, but your language setting may not be saved.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may revise this Policy in response to changes in law or in our business. A revised Policy takes effect when it is published on the Site. We will announce significant changes on the Site.
